Job Summary

We are seeking a proactive and organized HR & Payroll Specialist to support the Head of People and Culture in Canada with HR operations across both the Philippines and Canada.

This role manages end-to-end recruitment, Philippine payroll processing, HR administration, compliance, and reporting. Payroll responsibilities apply specifically to Philippines-based employees, including statutory compliance and government-mandated contributions.

The ideal candidate is tech-savvy, highly organized, comfortable in a fast-paced and evolving environment, and able to work on an EST schedule.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Recruitment & Talent Acquisition
    • Manage the full recruitment cycle including job postings, sourcing, screening, interviewing, and onboarding.
    • Track recruitment progress and maintain a strong candidate pipeline.
    • Create dashboards and reports on recruitment metrics and hiring trends.
    • Collaborate with the Canadian team to align recruitment with company growth objectives.
  • Payroll & Compensation
    • Process payroll accurately and on time for Philippines-based employees.
    • Ensure compliance with local labor laws and statutory contributions (SSS, PhilHealth, Pag-IBIG, taxes).
    • Maintain payroll records and prepare payroll reports.
    • Coordinate with Canada on salary adjustments, benefits, and compensation matters.
  • HR Operations & Administration
    • Maintain employee records, contracts, and HR documentation.
    • Implement HR policies, procedures, and best practices.
    • Support employee engagement initiatives and performance management processes.
    • Manage HR systems and communication platforms (Slack, Zoom).
  • Reporting & Analytics
    • Create HR dashboards and reports using Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, analytics).
    • Analyze recruitment and HR data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
    • Provide regular reporting to the Head of People and Culture on HR KPIs.
  • Philippine Benefits & Compliance
    • Administer employee benefits in compliance with Philippine labor laws.
    • Handle government-mandated contributions and reporting requirements.
    • Support onboarding and orientation of Philippines-based employees.

 

Qualifications

  • Education
    • Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, Accounting, or related field.
  • Experience
    • 3–5 years of experience in HR, payroll, or HR generalist roles.
    • Experience in Philippine payroll processing and statutory compliance.
    • Experience supporting recruitment and HR operations.
  • Technical Skills
    • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel (pivot tables, dashboards).
    • Experienced in Slack and Zoom.
    • Proficient in Google Workspace.
  • Nice-to-Have
    • Experience establishing HR operations from the ground up.
    • Experience supporting remote teams or cross-country HR operations.
    • Strong knowledge of Philippine labor laws, payroll, and benefits administration.
    • Experience building HR metrics dashboards and reports.
