Job Summary

The Engineering Manager plays a critical leadership role overseeing the day-to-day performance, productivity, and professional growth of the software engineering team. This role bridges strategic direction and technical execution, ensuring that projects are delivered efficiently, systems and applications are built to scale, and the development team is aligned with company goals.

In addition to leading the engineering function, this role also provides NetSuite technical leadership and architectural oversight, ensuring ERP solutions are designed, optimized, and integrated effectively across business functions. The Engineering Manager combines technical expertise with people leadership, process management, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure engineering excellence across the organization.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership & People Management
    • Lead, coach, and mentor a team of software developers (Solutions Developer I & II) to ensure high performance, engagement, and career growth.
    • Conduct regular one-on-one sessions, set clear performance goals, and facilitate professional development plans.
    • Drive recruitment, onboarding, and retention of top engineering talent in collaboration with the People & Culture team.
    • Promote a culture of accountability, continuous learning, innovation, and collaboration.
  • NetSuite Architecture & ERP Leadership
    • Own and oversee NetSuite architecture design, including OneWorld and multi-subsidiary configurations.
    • Provide governance and oversight for SuiteScript, SuiteFlow, SuiteBuilder, and SuiteCloud development standards.
    • Lead integration architecture and oversight across platforms such as Boomi, Celigo, and MuleSoft.
    • Support pre-sales solutioning, including technical discovery, solution design, and client-facing demonstrations.
    • Define and drive the ERP system optimization roadmap, ensuring continuous improvement, scalability, and performance.
    • Ensure NetSuite solutions align with financial, operational, and business process requirements across the organization.
    • Lead and mentor consultants and developers in NetSuite best practices, architecture, and delivery standards.
  • Technical Oversight & Project Delivery
    • Oversee the end-to-end software development lifecycle, from requirements, design, implementation, testing, deployment, and support.
    • Ensure technical solutions are scalable, maintainable, and aligned with architectural standards and company objectives.
    • Collaborate closely with Product Managers, QA, and cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions.
    • Monitor development progress, manage workloads, and proactively address blockers or risks to delivery timelines.
  • Process Improvement & Quality Assurance
    • Champion engineering best practices, including code review standards, version control, CI/CD, and documentation.
    • Partner with the QA team to maintain quality standards and drive test automation and continuous integration.
    • Identify opportunities to improve development workflows, tooling, and productivity metrics.
    • Lead retrospectives and implement feedback loops for ongoing process optimization.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration & Strategic Alignment
    • Work closely with Product Requirements Manager to align technology initiatives with strategic priorities.
    • Collaborate with Business Technology, Product, and Operations teams to ensure technical solutions meet functional and performance expectations.
    • Support planning, resource allocation, and roadmap discussions across engineering and ERP initiatives.
    • Communicate project updates, technical challenges, and delivery timelines to leadership and key stakeholders.
  • Governance, Compliance & Risk Management
    • Ensure adherence to coding standards, security practices, and data privacy regulations.
    • Manage engineering documentation and versioning for accountability and audit readiness.
    • Assess technical debt, manage risk, and drive initiatives for sustainable scalability and system reliability.

Qualifications

  • Education
    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related discipline (Master’s degree preferred)
  • Experience
    • 7+ years of progressive software development experience, including at least 2+ years in a team leadership or management role
    • Proven track record of delivering complex software and ERP projects on time and within scope
    • Strong understanding of software architecture, system design, and NetSuite ERP environments
    • Experience managing agile teams using Scrum or Kanban methodologies
    • Familiarity with DevOps principles and continuous delivery practices
  • Technical Skills
    • Proficiency in modern development stacks and cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
    • Strong experience with NetSuite ERP, including SuiteScript, SuiteFlow, SuiteBuilder, and SuiteAnalytics
    • Experience with integration platforms (Boomi, Celigo, MuleSoft, or similar)
    • Strong understanding of APIs, integration patterns, and data management
    • Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing frameworks
    • Ability to review, evaluate, and guide code quality and system architecture
